What We’re Tracking
- Heat holds strong
- Staying humid all week
- Wind Advisory
After a scorching day with heat index values reaching up to 106°, a mild but muggy night is ahead. Most areas will dip into the upper 70s overnight, though some spots may linger in the low 80s.
A Heat Advisory remains in effect through Saturday, with afternoon heat indices expected to climb back into the low 100s. This marks the hottest stretch of the season so far, so be sure to stay hydrated and avoid extended time outdoors during peak heating hours.
Dew points will climb into the low 70s this weekend, making for especially humid and uncomfortable conditions. Overnight lows will offer little relief, holding in the mid-70s.
In addition, a Wind Advisory is in effect for east-central Kansas from 10 AM to 8 PM Saturday. Southerly winds will increase throughout the day, with gusts reaching up to 30 to 40 mph. This persistent breeze will continue to bring in warm, moist air, keeping the heat and humidity in place through the weekend and into early next week.
Rain chances remain slim over the next few days. Our next opportunity for showers and storms arrives early next week, but it’s unlikely to bring significant cooling.
