KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A driver who told a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper they were running late for work on Friday morning saw their day get worse when the trooper says they were clocked going 143 miles per hour in a 75 mph zone.
KHP’s Troop A posted on Facebook that this happened in Miami County at 6:30 a.m. on U.S. 69 at milepost 126. The driver’s citation shows it’s going to cost them $873.

“Driving fast doesn’t (sic) zip you through some time loop! You’re already late! That time doesn’t come back when you drive fast. And now you’re sitting on the side of the highway a little more late,” Troop A said in its post.
In March, Overland Park police caught a driver going 104 mph in a 45 mph zone, leaving them with a $590 ticket.
