What We’re Tracking
- Strong Storms Tonight
- Winds Taper Off
- Slight Cool Down
All of northeastern Kansas has been battling intense heat this weekend. Fortunately, the heat won’t be as extreme this week. However, don’t expect much relief as temperatures will still climb into the low to mid-90s the next few afternoons.
After a breezy weekend with gusts near 40 mph, winds will gradually taper off, with gusts dropping to around 20 mph heading into this afternoon.
We will remain mostly clear today, though a few clouds will begin to filter in later today ahead of our next round of rain. Rain and storm chances return this evening after about 5pm and will linger into Tuesday morning.
Portions of central Kansas and the northern counties of northeastern Kansas are under a slight risk for severe weather. The main threats include damaging winds and small hail, but heavy downpours appear to be the greatest concern, with localized flooding possible. Storms are expected to weaken as they move farther east.
A few showers or storms may linger into Tuesday bringing the chance for more damaging wind gusts and heavy downpours. But, despite the rain, temperatures will remain hot continuing in the low 90s through much of the week.
