The FSIS said the problem was first noticed when the Office of Inspector General (OIG) received a complaint regarding the bologna. The FSIS investigated the complaint and found the products contained source materials that were not included on the label.
“Although FSIS does not expect any adverse health effects for Class III recalled products and there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products, anyone concerned about an illness should contact a healthcare provider.”
FSIS recall statement excerpt
Health officials are concerned some people may still have the products stored in refrigerators and freezers. People who purchased the products are encouraged not to eat them and should instead try to return them or throw the bologna away.
People who have questions regarding this recall are encouraged to contact Gaiser’s European Style Provisions Inc. by calling 908-686-3421 or send an email to gaisers@verizon.net. You can also contact the USDA’s Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888-674-6854 with other food safety questions.
