WABAUNSEE COUNTY (KSNT) – Deputies in northeast Kansas are taking part in “an active and aggressive investigation” after multiple attempted burglaries were reported across Wabaunsee County.
Sheriff Eric Kirsch with the Wabaunsee County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement on social media that his office is investigation a series of attempted thefts and burglaries in rural parts of the county. He said the crimes took place over the weekend of June 28-29.
Criminal activity included attempts to access rural farmsteads, theft of agricultural equipment left in fields and fuel siphoning. Law enforcement believes those involved in the recent criminal activity are deliberately avoiding use of main roads and targeting isolated locations.
“Please report any suspicious vehicles idling in unusual places, or any unfamiliar foot traffic in the area to the Sheriff’s Office,” Kirsch said. “Our deputies are actively patrolling affected areas and are working diligently to identify & apprehend the suspects.”
