TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library announced that laptops are now available for checkout.
According to a press release from the library, adult library cardholders can now check out laptops for in-library use for up to five hours.
“Laptops give library customers more flexibility of where they use computers to fully take advantage of all the great spaces within the library,” said Marie Pyko, library CEO. “People interested in quiet focused work can take a laptop into the North Reading Room, which is the only no talking area of the library.”

Library cardholders will be able to use a laptop loan kiosk in the Movies and Music Room or in the Kids Library. Users will ned to follow the on-screen steps for the checkout. Users will receive an email confirming when the laptops have been returned.
“You could relax by the fireplace in the Topeka Room or get a cup of coffee and surf the internet in the Millennium Café,” Pyko said. “Parents can even work on a laptop while they watch their children in the Kids Library.”
