TOPEKA (KSNT) – A Topeka neighborhood is getting into the red, white and blue spirit in a big way.
The College Hill Fourth of July parade kicks off this week, but it’s not just the parade that’s drawing attention. For decades, College Hill neighbors have celebrated the holiday with a parade through the heart of the historic district, but before the music and marching begins, the spotlight is on the homes.
The neighborhoods house decorating contest is underway, and residents are going all out to turn their homes into patriotic showpieces.
“It’s a lot of fun for me and for the neighbors to show our neighborhood pride,” parade coordinator, Susan Duffy said. “But also, our celebration of this special day.”
