TOPEKA (KSNT) – A local non-profit is getting some help to begin the next step in building and bringing affordable housing to the community.
With new tax credits, SENT Topeka unlocked a $46 million investment that will bring 176 units of affordable housing to 29th and Fremont in Southeast Topeka.
This development is in partnership with HTK architects who created the renderings, Mesner Development, the Topeka Housing Authority and many others.

This project will use project-based vouchers by Topeka housing authority, meaning people with zero income can move into the neighborhood.
This apartment complex is just on one side of the street, the other side will feature 51 single family homes.
New gas station, convenience store may be coming to east Topeka
“Across the street, we plan on developing those single-family homes, three- and four-bedroom homes, two baths, two car garage; without using tax credits,” Johnathan Sublet, the executive director of SENT, said. “Our hope is to develop a neighborhood where someone can go from unsheltered to being a homeowner and never have to change their kid’s school.”
Sublet also says his group entered its RHD application last week, and hopes to close the deal by the end of the year.
SENT is looking to start construction on this new complex around February 2026.
