TOPEKA (KSNT) — New data from the Topeka Police Department (TPD) shows 2025 is on track to see less crime than previous years.
TPD posted on Facebook Thursday it’s seeing a 10% decrease in overall crime at this point in the year compared to last year, according to newly-released statistics. The numbers also reflect a 23% drop from five years ago.
Violent crime is down by 7%, and property crime decreased by 10% compared to this point in time last year. Additionally, in the last five years, auto-thefts have fallen by 42%.
Other notable statistics include reductions in robberies and thefts, as well as assaults. Arsons, however, remain unchanged over the last five years. You can see the full table below:
TPD said in the Facebook post these results reflect the continued dedication of the department and the strength of our partnerships with the community.
