EMPORIA (KSNT) — With the 2025 football season just around the corner, Emporia State gave high school athletes a chance to show what they’ve got.
The Hornets hosted their annual summer prospect camp at Welch Stadium on Saturday, bringing in talent from across the region for a full day of skill instruction and competition. The camp featured baseline athletic testing — including the 40-yard dash, pro agility drills, and broad jump — along with position-specific work and one-on-one matchups on both offense and defense.
Emporia State’s coaching staff, along with current Hornet players, ran the camp, offering instruction and evaluating athletes as potential future members of the program.
“This is a big recruiting tool for us, especially at our level,” head coach Garin Higgins told KSNT. “We believe in bringing in players and developing and cultivating them so when they leave here, they care deeply about Emporia State like myself.”
The camp is a key part of the Hornets’ recruiting process and gives prospective student-athletes a firsthand look at what the program is all about — both on and off the field.
Emporia State will be back in the spotlight soon, as it hosts MIAA Football Media Day on July 28, bringing teams from across the conference together ahead of the upcoming season.
