What We’re Tracking
- Hot temperatures continue
- Humidity increases
- Mid-week rain chance
A storm system will move in from Nebraska later tonight but will weaken as it arrives—much like what we saw last week. Northern counties have the best chance for a few showers. Overnight lows will settle in the mid-70s.
Wednesday could be the hottest day of the season so far, with highs soaring into the upper 90s and heat index values in the triple digits. Winds will pick up slightly, gusting near 20 mph ahead of an approaching cold front.
That front moves in Wednesday evening, bringing our best chance for rain this week. Storms will develop along the front Wednesday night and could linger into early Thursday. Behind the front, highs on Thursday will drop into the mid-80s, offering a brief break from the heat.
Temperatures rebound quickly, though, with highs climbing back into the mid to upper 90s by the weekend. Overnight lows will hold steady in the mid-70s as a hot and dry pattern sets in.
