TOPEKA (KSNT) – A Massachusetts food producer is recalling more than 24,000 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken sausage products that may be contaminated with materials like plastic.
The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced the recall on July 17. Kayem Foods Inc. out of Massachusetts is recalling 24,173 pounds of chicken sausage products as it may contain pieces of plastic.
Kayem Foods Inc. reported the recalled products have the establishment number “P-7839” printed inside the USDA mark of inspection and were shipped to stores nationwide. Additional details on the recalled products are below:
- 11-oz. vacuum-packed packages containing four pieces of “All natural al fresco chicken sausage sweet apple with Vermont made syrup” with lot code “179” and “USE/FRZ BY” date “OCT 01 2025” printed on the back package label.
The FSIS said three people sent in complaints to the producer regarding white pieces of plastic inside the recalled products. No reports of injuries have been made yet in connection to the recalled chicken sausage.

Federal health officials are worried some people may still have the products stored within their refrigerators or freezers. People who did purchase the recalled products are encouraged to throw them away or return them.
