What We’re Tracking
- Excessive Heat Warning
- Long stretch of dangerous heat
- No major rain relief
Despite the morning showers, we still heat up heading into this afternoon. Highs today just below 100 degrees with dew points in the upper 60s to low 70s, giving us heat indices around 105 degrees. Shower chances increase heading into this evening, with the greater chance coming after sunset. Some storms could be strong to severe with the primary hazard being wind gusts as high as 50 to 60 mph.
Most of the viewing area is under an Excessive Heat Warning through Thursday next week. Temperatures are expected to keep warming all throughout this weekend into the start of next week. The combination of heat and humidity this weekend makes heat indices 105+ degrees possible. Remember to limit time outdoors, find shade if possible, and hydrated.
The new week will start off a little unsettled with some early morning storms on Monday, but we’re all expected to dry out as we head into Tuesday. Once the dry time begins, that’s when temperatures begin to soar into the lower 100s.
