MANHATTAN (KSNT) – Throughout the past week, the Big 12 Conference has been unveiling member schools’ male and female nominees for Big 12 Athlete of the Year.
On Monday, the conference announced Brendan Mott and Carla Bernat at Kansas State’s nominees.
Mott, a senior defensive end, recorded 8.5 sacks and 11.5 tackles for loss in the 2024 season. He also recorded an interception in the Wildcats dominant 41-15 victory over the Cincinnati Bearcats.
Mott was named the Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year and a member of the All-Big 12 First Team.
C.J. Jones withdraws from transfer portal, returning to K-State
Bernat set a program record for scoring average, with a 70.44. She also finished her career at K-State second in wins, top-five and top-10 finishes.
The Spanish senior was the Big 12 Women’s Golfer of the Year and was named a First Team All-American by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association.
Nominees for the remaining member schools will be announced by the Big 12 until July 23.
The Big 12 Athlete of the Year winners will be announced July 24.
