TOPEKA (KSNT) – The City of Topeka’s Office on Inclusive Communities (OIC) is hosting a back-to-school supply event next month to help local families as they prepare for the coming school year.
The City of Topeka and community sponsors are funding an initiative to help some local families get the supplies they need ahead of the 2025-2026 school year. The city hopes the upcoming back-to-school event will ensure every child starts the year with the tools they need to succeed.
Families must submit applications to be approved in order to receive school supplies on a first-come, first-serve basis. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, July 30 with the school supply hand-out event coming on Saturday, Aug. 2.

“We want every child in Topeka to feel confident and prepared when they walk into the classroom,” said Director of the OIC Monique Glaude’. “This effort is about equity, dignity, and ensuring access to resources for those who need them most.”
- Eligible families:
- Must reside in the Topeka community.
- Households with low to moderate income.
- Students entering Pre-K through 12th grade.
