TOPEKA (KSNT) – A local ice cream shop is back open, just several hours after a break-in overnight.
The Sweet Tee, located near 29th and Croco in Topeka, was burglarized late at night on July 26.
The front door was shattered, and the owner reported that approximately $300 in cash was stolen from the register.
“It’s kind of scary, you know,” Owner, Dayton Vanderpool said. “It makes me, like, distrust a little bit. I don’t know who did it. It could be somebody I know. It could be a customer that comes in all the time. I wouldn’t ever think somebody would rob an ice cream shop, but it’s really unfortunate.”
The door was quickly replaced following the incident. The owner tells 27 News that he hopes people will continue to support the shop now more than ever.
